Payroll Officer

The Business Office is seeking a full time Payroll Officer who is detail-oriented, result-focused, and an analytical thinker to process and manage the College payroll on time, accurately, and in compliance with state and government regulations.
Duties and responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Administer bi-weekly payroll consistent with College procedures as they relate to payroll transactions, this includes, but not limited to, oversee the accuracy of all timesheets, data entry, direct deposit, miscellaneous deductions, paychecks and all associated reports.
- Assist in the development of policies and procedures to promote efficiency and compliance with regulatory changes.
- Prepares and submits reports, including annual W-2s to government agencies.
- Applies terms and conditions of two union contracts and policy manual provisions related to payroll and benefits.
- Adheres to strict guidelines and to a time-driven schedule to ensure proper and accurate processing of bi-weekly payroll.
- Understands encumbrances and accruals as they relate to payroll transactions and financial reporting.
- Maintains confidential data and ensures privacy of personal, payroll information.
Minimum Qualifications
Candidates applying must have a bachelor’s degree with one to three years of experience and knowledge of payroll operations OR an associate’s degree with three to five years of experience and knowledge of payroll operations. Strong computer, organization, communication and prioritization skills are essential, with the ability to work independently. Experience with a computerized fiscal system and MS Office Suite are required. Knowledge of Oracle Database systems, Banner programs/applications is a plus. Candidate must be flexible to work holidays or when the college is closed to ensure payroll is processed in timely manner.
Salary and Benefit Information
Starting salary $20.00 and will be commensurate with education and work experience.
