TITLE:
Principal Investigator, TRiO Student Support Services
SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY:
Under the direction of the Executive Director of Research and Sponsored Programs, the Director of TRIO SSS (Student Support Services) is responsible for the overall administration and implementation of the TRiO SSS project, to include the supervision of program staff, maintaining the budget, compilation of program reports and project evaluations.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
· Promote equal access and treatment for groups traditionally under-represented in higher education and serve on college committees relevant to diverse needs of disadvantaged and disabled students.
Disseminate program information to students and campus community.
Hire, train, supervise, evaluate and promote professional development of staff.
Collaborate with staff in planning, organizing, and implementing an academic program that includes financial literacy, intrusive advising, tutoring as well as recreational, cultural and social activities.
Supervise collection of data for required reports by the college and appropriate federal agencies.
Prepare, monitor, and manage appropriate use of program budgets that comply with federal policies.
Prepares all required program reports, proposals and publicity materials.
Ensure compliance of TRiO program regulations, project performance, and participant eligibility (low income, first generation, disabled and academic need.)
Provide accurate program documentation such as fiscal records, student records, and evaluation data.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Master’s degree in counseling, guidance, student personnel, psychology, career development, social welfare, or a related field.
One year of leadership experience reasonably related to the administrative assignment.
Evidence of a sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Two years’ experience, or the equivalent, in one or more of the following:
1. Counseling or guidance for students with disabilities.
2. Counseling and/or guidance in industry, government, public agencies, military or social welfare organizations in which the responsibilities of the position were predominantly for persons with disabilities.
Two or more years of professional experience in developmental education related to instruction and/or student services, counseling and guidance preferably relevant to students with disabilities.
Previous experience working effectively with high school and college age low income, first generation, disabled, and/or culturally diverse students.
Previous work experience with a TRIO program or similar educational preparation program.
Demonstrated experience in program development and administration.
Teaching experience, preferably in courses related to skill development.
Demonstrated experience with budget management and development.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with students and staff from diverse backgrounds and programs.
Knowledge of, training in, or experience working in programs serving students with disabilities.
Preference given to applicants with similar backgrounds to the participants.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:
Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Knowledge of academic and financial aid requirements and procedures
Excellent organizational skills
Knowledge of unique strengths, challenges, and learning preferences of postsecondary students from low-income, first-generation backgrounds
Demonstrated skills in motivating learners
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
This position will supervise two Academic Counselors and an Administrative services position.

Salary: $63,000 - $68,000
