JEFFERSON COUNTY
SUPERVISING DOG CONTROL OFFICER
This is a position charged with the responsibilities for carrying out the provisions of the Agriculture and Markets Law dealing with the general control of dogs including their seizure, impoundment, adoption, redemption and care. An employee in this class must possess skill in handling dogs of all sizes and be able to operate independently in the field.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma and three years of work experience, one of which must have been in a supervisory capacity, involving the handling and caring for dogs or other domestic animals. Must be at least 21 years of age at the time of appointment.
NOTE:
1. This position involves the operation of a motor vehicle; possession of the appropriate level New York State driver's license is required.
2. Additional experience may be substituted for the education requirements on a year-for-year basis.
Salary Range $58,646 - $65,058 with excellent fringe benefits including health, vision and dental insurance, Flex Spending Account, NYS Retirement, Deferred Compensation, paid vacation and sick leave. Civil Service exam required for permanent appointment. EOE
