DEPARTMENT: Counseling Center
SALARY: $50,000 - $60,000 (depending on qualifications & experience)
Job Description
The SUNY Canton Counseling Center seeks a counselor for a full-time, 11-month position. Qualified applicants will have demonstrated clinical and outreach experience working with a diverse population.
The counselor will provide personal/group counseling, assessment interviews, and community & on-campus referrals, along with delivering educational programs to staff and students. Services will be implemented via face-to-face and telehealth services. Counselor will perform crisis interventions as needed.
Counselor will perform other related duties such as assisting with development & implementation of relevant programming to the campus community, consultation with other departments, and training of other college staff members. Some evening and weekend hours are required.
The counselor will maintain licensure during the course of employment and participate in ongoing training to provide quality therapeutic interventions.
Required Qualifications: NYS licensure as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Psychoanalyst, or current permit holder able to obtain licensure as a LMHC within one year of start date.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with college and/or diverse populations, proficiency with electronic medical records, crisis interventions skills, and educational programming
Prior to final offer of employment, the selected candidate will be required to submit to a background check including, but not limited to, employment verification, educational and other credential verification, and criminal background check.
