Faculty Position
Title: Tenure-Track Assistant Professor – Funeral Services
Department: Funeral Services Administration
Salary Range: $62,000 - $70,000
The State University of New York (SUNY) College at Canton invites qualified applicants for a full-time Tenure-Track Assistant Professor (other ranks considered) position in the Funeral Services Administration Department, beginning September 1, 2024.
Required Qualifications for Tenure Track*:
- Earned degree in mortuary science from a regionally and ABFSE accredited institution.
- Master’s degree in a related field of study (a “related field of study” is a discipline or subject matter that is testable on the National Board Exam.)
- Must hold or be able to obtain (within three months of employment) a New York State Funeral Director’s license.
- Proof of good standing as a funeral director/embalmer with the New York State Department of Health, Bureau of Funeral Directing, or the equivalent from another state.
- Minimum of three years of experience in the practice of funeral services and embalming.

Duties for Tenure Track**:
- Teach courses as assigned in the program in a variety of instructional modalities (face-to-face, online, and flex) and implements assessment and use of data for continuous improvement in course and program student learning outcomes.
- Advise funeral services administration students.
- Participate in faculty committees and other activities related to university service.
- Continually develop and improve skills and knowledge in the discipline through professional development while maintaining a NYS funeral directors license.
- Engage in scholarly activities that contribute to the dissemination of knowledge in the discipline.
- Ensure ABFSE and state compliance requirements are adhered throughout the program.
