Instructor of World Languages
Jefferson Community College, Watertown, New York, part of the State University of New York (SUNY) system, seeks a full-time, tenure-track World Language Instructor (spring and fall, day and evening) to begin January 17, 2024. Additional responsibilities include student advising, participation in college committees, and outreach to high schools offering concurrent enrollment courses. Faculty are expected to advance the College's focus on student success and completion and will work closely with the College's leadership to advance the mission of the Strategic Plan 2020-2025.
Required: Appropriate Master’s degree with fluency in Spanish.
Applicants must interact and communicate effectively with diverse populations, foster inclusion, and promote equal access and treatment for groups traditionally under-represented in higher education.
Preferred: In addition to Spanish, competency in American Sign Language, French, or German; college teaching experience; ability to work in a collaborative environment; experience in online course delivery; ability to use technology; academic advising; excellent written and oral communication skills; and experience working with students from diverse backgrounds. There may be opportunities for instructors to teach in areas outside of the languages if the need arises. Other areas of teaching interest/expertise should be noted in the application materials.
Advertised Salary: $47,589 to $55,000 for well-qualified individuals. Salary is determined based upon experience and education in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement as well as internal equity.
