Job Description:
The State University of New York (SUNY) College at Canton invites qualified applications for a Women’s Volleyball Head Coach in the Athletics Department. This is a full-time, 10-month position beginning in May 2024.
The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent organization, oral and written communication skills, and an appreciation for the philosophy of the NCAA Division III. Selected candidate will be expected to adhere to all institutional, SUNYAC and NCAA rules, policies and procedures. Candidate must have strong program management skills, the ability to recruit and retain qualified and talented student athletes and a demonstrated commitment to students’ athletic and academic success. Candidate must be willing to work evenings and weekends. Capacity to be a visible and engaging leader as well as work collaboratively with others including but not limited to faculty, admissions and residence life.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Demonstrated effectiveness coaching and/or playing volleyball.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree.
- 1-3 years collegiate coaching and/or playing experience.
- The demonstrated ability to recruit, motivate, and retain a diverse, inclusive, and successful program.
- Experience with fundraising and alumni engagement.
Duties:
Organize, direct and supervise our women's volleyball program. Recruit outstanding student athletes, coach and train students, schedule opponents, participate in fundraising, monitor academic progress. Secondary responsibilities include working with sports information office or fitness center.
